The City is served by the Tahoma School District, renowned for its excellent bus service, aggressive pursuit of new opportunities for children, and competence in child education. The Tahoma School District consistently surpasses the rest of the remaining school districts in Washington in academic performance. The student-teacher ratio is 19:1, and there are 8,765 pupils in grades PK–12.

According to state exam scores, 68% of students and 76% of reading students are at least competent.

Private institutions and home-schooling are choices for public schools. These neighborhood schools include Rainier Christian School, Renton Christian School, and Russell Ridge Center.

Additionally, Maple Valley has several early learning programs collaborating with parents to promote their children's early education, such as the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program and co-op projects.
